Tomorrow, (ironically) March "12"th, 2009, is the "12",000th day I've been blessed to be alive on this wonderful planet, during this wonderful time in history. When you sit back and really think about that, it blows me away. 12,000 days...TWELVE THOUSAND DAYS, I've been alive. Wow. I pray that in His infinite wisdom, God allows me to live AT LEAST another 12,000 days. And I pray that I used them a lot more effectively than I did this first batch!
On to other topics, sickness is beginning to ravage the Sheldon household! I was down both Saturday and Sunday, with Monday having just a come-and-go queezy stomach. Evan then started getting sick and throwing up on Tuesday. Wednesday, I took off to take care of him, since I knew if he had what I did, that it would be as bad as day #1 for him, but he seemed to not feel good and only really just want to be held and didn't have any issues, besides that, all day. I thought he was done...but boy was I wrong! Back to E in a sec. Belinda came home an hour early Tuesday night, after throwing up a few times at work. I knew with it starting in her, I'd need to take Wednesday off as well to help her, so she wouldn't have to take care of the kids (getting the older ones ready for school, and the others if they were sick). So, after getting the older kids ready for school this morning, I thought I smelled poo upstairs and figured one of the kids had gas. If only I could be so lucky. I finally heard Evan awake, so I went to go get him...and saw what can only be described as the worst way to ever find your child when you get him up in the morning...covered from his waist down, and basically in a puddle in his bed, made up of diarhea. Let that image soak in for a bit. Now let it sink in a little more. Just a little while longer. Now...think through the thoughts that went through my head..."How am I going to clean this mess up? How am I going to clean this baby up? How much poo will I be touching in the next few minutes? How much poo will I touch when I move the sheets into a pile to take downstairs to the washer? How much poo will I touch when I then unfold this pile, and put it into the washer, so that the washer can clean it as best as it can? Do I have time for a bath, since the older kids basically needed to be out of the door in less than five minutes, and B was still sleeping?" I thought of many more things, and thought many more negative comments to myself, but you get the gist of it. Sorry for the TMI, but I wanted you all to feel my pain! HA! Any way, on with the day...since then, Evan's only had a few more diarhea diapers, and has been in a better mood. B hasn't had too many issues today, but just feels really out of it (poor thing!). But lately, now BRADEN is saying his stomach hurts. He puked early this morning, but he's been fine since then, and it wasn't really that much that he puked. He's been saying his stomach hurts a little here and there, but I'm praying he just needs to eat something, instead of this crud continuing to work it's way down the Sheldon clan.
Thursday afternoon, Don, my coworker and I will be heading to Dallas. We'll be visiting the Google Radio Automation offices. Yup, GOOGLE! I can NOT wait! Being pro-anythingGoogle, I can easily say I'm a fanboy of the company. In hearing they are opening a facility in Western Iowa, I almost thought about moving us back at one point, but only a fleeting second. Anyway, what we'll be doing (besides me being wide-eyed at everything we see), is a program that they upgraded after they bought it. It's the new version of the software we currently use to play all of our music on the air. It used to be called "Scott Studios" aka (SS32), but now it's called "Google Radio Automation". With radio being all digital now, and everything being ran on servers, it's imperitive that I (being the IT guy and all) go and see this product, to see if it's something we want to upgrade to (since our software is VERY old and we need to upgrade), or if we want to look at another product called "NexGen" by Prophet Systems. Don, the guy I'm going to the Google plant with, previously worked for a huge national radio company called "Clear Channel", and was a nationally called-upon professional for the NexGen product. We actually hired him because even though he was exactly what we needed in a Radio Engineer, but he also had the NexGen knowledge and we were 100% set on upgrading that direction. The only reason we're looking at the Google product (because we've been so unhappy with our current version of the product) is because it's a free upgrade for us, because Google is really trying to get everyone on their current release (makes it easy to support one version versus many, ya know), and because it's from Google, right? It's gotta be good, right? HA! We'll see. So, I'll be there Thursday afternoon, and all day Friday. We'll be driving home Friday evening, so we'll be getting back home late. I hopefully see a Woody's Smokehouse stop on the way there or back, in our future! GIDDYUP!!! JERKY HEAVEN!
Avery and I shot up to the grocery store on our bikes, and got a few pizzas for dinner tonight, so I'm going to get off here and get to making some din-din. You all have a great night, and do something special to celebrate my 12,000th day tomorrow! ;)
God bless and good night!
E
