Busy busy busy busy busy busy busy

It's turned into crazyland in the Sheldon household. There is so much going on in our lives right now that I just haven't had the desire to do one more thing besides all that is on my plate already. To find out what has been going on, let's turn the page back to last week...

Thursday through Sunday...Jim and Shelly came to town for the first time. We had a blast with them...hitting Kemah on Friday, Galveston on Saturday, then hanging out at the house on Sunday. It was a lot of driving in a few days, but you can't NOT do those things when people come down for the first time. They're fun to do and don't get old as long as you don't do them every week. Sunday was B's birthday, so we went to Papasito's for lunch, hung out for a while, then put Jim & Shelly on a plane back to Iowa. The weekend was a blast, but it went too fast, and we all got homesick as usual. Things are fine now in that area, but still.

This Saturday and Sunday is CityFest Houston. Check the link...it's going to be pretty amazing. It's a FREE festival being thrown for Houston, trying to unite the Christian body of the area, to become more than just what we are now. Uniting us and focusing us on monthly missions, networking, activities, etc. At KSBJ, we're the only radio station invited to cover it all, and we're the main partners with the festival. It's a huge responsibility, and so we're donating tons of resources and man-hours. That in turn means we have tons to do just to get ready for the thing. I have so much going on at work that I can't even begin to touch because of all the stuff I need to work on right now.

Work has been going well, but just super busy. I have so many things that I need to study and learn even more, that I'm just keeping my head above water. I wish I grew up around computers like alot of the nerds did. One thing about today's nerds that "yesterday's" nerds don't have, are command line knowledge, terminal knowledge, and other old school things that the average computer geek doesn't usually get that much experience with nowadays. I wish I could find some good CBT to take that goes over that stuff.

We went to B's first doctor appt today, and heard the heartbeat. It sounds perfect! The doctor there was amazing! I would recommend any woman down here who is pregnant to go to this office. They made Belinda, and even myself, as if we have been lifetime patients of theirs. They even gave us gifts for the baby...a super soft blanket and his/her first outfit. Very nice.

Today, I purchased a few cd's. Even though I hate paying more money buying actual cd's, than to save some money and buy them online...I LOVE having the actual cd's in hand! It's the fun of going to the store, and buying an actual cd, and then owning it...rather than just a digital copy on my computer and then a burnt cd from it. There are good and bad things about the cd purchases. The bad thing...I've bought too many from a monetary standpoint. The good thing...I received the compensation from my Dallas trip today, and so that takes care of any burden from buying the cd's. The cd's I got for myself are "Pillar: The Reckoning (DVD Version)", "Skillet: Comatose", and "Casting Crowns: Lifesong Live (DVD Version)". Usually I can get some of the cd's from my program director at work, but these few cd's haven't came in yet and I couldn't wait. I am a HUGE fan of all three of these bands. Skillet, because of my buddy Kris a few years ago, but I think I've grown to love them more than he has. This new cd is AMAZING! Pillar has been a favorite of mine since they came out. Every cd of their's is something you can work out to. I've heard amazing things about this cd so I can't wait to hear it. Plus, the dvd that came with it has concert footage...RAWK! I saw them with P.O.D. a few months ago if you all remember, and their show was even better than their cd. Casting Crowns has been a staple of my "favorite bands" list since I first heard their cd...I think I might have to thank Kris again for that...just maybe. Although from what I've heard, the cd isn't that special, it's not the real reason I got it. I got it for the DVD that came with it. Once again, the DVD...like their previous live DVD, and most DVD's that come with cd's nowadays...shows a live performance of a bunch of their songs. B and I went to see them last year when we first moved down here and we LOVED their show...so this purchase was for a date night in the future. What an amazing performance they do, and so I pray this DVD is half as good as their show. The Skillet cd was for me, but mostly for A. He loves them so much, and we're going to go to a small show they're doing on the 10th where I'll get them to talk to him, shake his hand, and even autograph his cd. He's already freaking out now...I can't wait for him to actually meet them. They're very cool people and I know he's going to remember it forever. I just pray I remember to bring my Zen to record the songs they do. Another cd I got was Jump5's Greatest Hits. I got that cd for Jaelyn, because I wanted her to have some good Christian music that she can play in her cd player. We listened to some of it during the ride home and I could tell she really liked it so far. YAY FOR DADDY!

Well, I need to catch up on some DVR shows, so take care.
