Chillin' on a Sunday Morning.

I don't think there is anything better than waking up on a day off, relaxing with your laptop, drinking some coffee, having the News on TV, and knowing that you have a few hours of nothing to do, except relax. Unfortunately, I've had a bit more than a few hours to do that today. Evan, who is still in his crib in our room, woke up at 5:15am when B's alarm went off, and was soaked. It doesn't surprise me since he drank basically two bottles before bed last night. But after getting him under control with B's help, I was awake and decided to get up and enjoy some of the day, since yesterday flew by too fast and I'd like to enjoy my days off before it's back to the grindstone at work.

Yesterday (Saturday), we decided to celebrate Braden's birthday, since his real bday is on Monday, and because B works today (Sunday). We had A & J's last soccer games of the season in the morning, and then went to Burger King for lunch. (Note to self: BK is not a place I need to be going to. It never sits well with me anymore.) After that, we took Braden to a black-light mini-golf course called "Shankz". Braden loves to golf/mini-golf and so once he heard about the place, he's been begging us to go to it. We had a fun time with all of us, and then my mom, Steve, and his son Ben. After that, we played another game they had at the place, but I can't remember the name of it. If you check B's blog, it's on there, along with some pics from the day. After Shankz, we came home, let Braden open his presents and had some cake. We tried to go to the Y to workout, but forgot to read the hours of the daycare there and so when we go there, we found that they had already closed for the day. Shoot. We decided to celebrate not working out by enjoying a snow cone on the way home. HA!

Today at church, they're doing something cool that A & J finally get to participate in. The soccer league they were in is part of something the church puts on, so it's ran entirely through them and not an outside party. That gives the church just another way to reach out to the community. In doing so, at the end of each summer/winter season, the teams get to run through the sanctuary in their uniforms. It's something cute and fun that they will absolutely "glow" in doing so. After church, we have to go eat somewhere again, and then back up to the church for the awards presentation. Gonna be a busy day. Not sure if I'll get a workout at the Y today or if I'll have to do it at home, but I got out of it yesterday, so I need to make sure I get one in today.

Speaking of working out, earlier in the week I was down 45 lbs, but my "official" weigh in yesterday morning, shows me down 44 lbs. It's still a 2 lb loss for the week, so I'm more than fine with it. I am shooting for 50 lbs when we head for our vacation in June, and then want to be down 60+ by the time we come home in August! Why only 10 lbs more in two months? Well, I'm sure I'll put on a few lbs during B and I's mini-vacation in June, because I plan to enjoy myself. I've worked very hard to get where I am, and even though I don't plan to gorge, I do plan to partake. ;)

I had my L elbow and R knee checked out by an orthopedic doctor on Thursday. My elbow has been giving me a LOT of pain. I could barely squeeze my fist hard. My knee has been grinding really bad, so I wanted to get it looked at. After only speculating the worst, it goes to show again why I usually have the motto (and should have listened to myself in this case) to never worry until you have to. My knee looks good he said, just have some of the fluid in there wearing down, and that I really only need to work on building up the muscle on the inside of the leg, just above the knee. He said that should help pull the kneecap up a bit and help the grinding stop. My elbow was a little different story, but still good outcome. It's got a LOT of inflammation in there, but no issue other than that. The meds I previously took didn't touch it, and he affirmed my suspicion that certain meds, no matter the dose (to a point) might not work with a person's body chemistry. The ones I had been taking, I felt, had never worked for me as I had been given them a few times by a dr back home. This dr talked to me about that for a bit, then gave me a cortisone shot in the elbow, gave me some different meds to try, and then assigned me some physical therapy. I'll try the meds first and see how they help. Day four so far, and it seems to be working a bit at least. I can clench my fist, but lifting in a pulling motion seems to still tweak the pain a bit. I gotta get over this though, so I can start lifting weights! Gotta get my muscle on, yo!

Well, it's 8am, and time for Today Weekend to start, so I'm going to get a refill on my coffee, and get ready to get caught up on some news happenings around the world.
