End Times they are a comin’

I’ve been interested in the “end times” since reading the “Left Behind” series by Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye. Great fictional series if you are looking for something of the sort. Jerry has written another series by himself titled “Soon” which is VERY good as well (and only three books long compared to the 15 so far of the LB series). Tim LaHaye has another series of his own titled “Babylon Rising”. The fourth book of that series just came out. It’s nothing mind blowing, but it’s got a cool twist going to it, in that the main character is like a Christian Indiana Jones. He’s searching for artifacts that prove the Bible. What’s not to like, right? Well, lately, some of the world’s events are making me realize things that kind of freak me out in a sense, but also make me long to see our Savior come down and save us from it all. In the BR series, there is a group called “The Seven” that are the most powerful (and evil) people in the world. They meet secretly, and only talk to each other when at their meetings. They don’t discuss anything about their meetings to anyone. Their goal, global domination, and to unleash Satan on the earth. What they plan to do is basically this…with the US being the only real superpower left, spread them super thin militarily by creating upheaval in foreign countries. They will then send troops to do whatever needs done. You can see that now in situations like Afghanistan, Iraq, and possibly soon to be Iran and North Korea. Then when they’re the weakest, attack from an unsuspecting point and decimate their remaining forces. This scenario is being played out (I believe anyway) in a new show on tv called “Jericho”, where the US is (supposedly, we’re only into the fifth show or so) attacked by nuclear bombs at 10+ key cities across the country. Think about it. We ARE the only remaining super power in the world. What happens if we go? The world is in even MORE chaos than it already is. And if North Korea and Iran prove they have nukes and can use them, we HAVE to go to war with them. With us already having troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, we can’t just leave those areas; otherwise they will fall into civil war. So we send more troops, have a draft, send more people to wherever they will go, and then our homeland is left virtually defenseless. Our missile defense system isn’t something we can totally depend on yet, so if one of these crack nations decides to launch at us, who’s to say we can/can’t knock them down? The leaders of North Korea and Iran are definitely not all there in the head. I mean, “Good for you that you want to try and have nuclear power and all”, but why then try to be a bully about it and start stuff that doesn’t need to be started. Remember the Cold War with Russia? I vaguely do, and what I do remember wasn’t pretty. Fire off a nuke, and the world will never be the same.

Who’s to say there isn’t some secret council of baddies that are using North Korea and Iran’s Prime Ministers as puppets, and prodding them to do their bidding? While I have no fear of Satan, because I rely on the blood that was shed for me by Jesus Christ, I still fear for my family and anything they have to go through in this messed up world. I looked at Braden tonight, because he snuck downstairs to cuddle with mommy after the other children went to bed, and wondered what this world will be like if it makes it another 10-20 years. What will be in store for him and my other children? I pray he can sit back on a Sunday afternoon, and eat some chips/dip while watching a football game. I pray he can have an afternoon to play in the park with his children. This world is so hard at times to want to stick around and see what happens, but it’s too hard to leave your family as well. I pray God blesses us with peace on earth for whatever it’s worth, but if not, I pray he takes us all in a blink of an eye, so we can get to Heaven all that much quicker.
