Not made for the elevator

Man, lately the music scene has just EXPLODED with awesome stuff. Even if you aren't a Christian, the Christian music scene has had an EPIC past few months of music that's been released, and it's stuff that anyone can listen to. Hop on over to iTunes and check out a few of these cd's.

Skillet - "Comatose" (this is a MUST buy for everyone out there...I'm telling you!!!) It's got my nod for Album of the Year in ANY category! They've got a song ("Whispers in the dark") that was just released on the secular radio scene and it blowing up. The first one released on the Christian side was "Rebirthing". I don't know why they did two different songs, but they both rock...in fact the whole cd is so flipping amazing that I'd have to say it's the best cd to come out in YEARS! Yes...it's THAT good. All of you who read this have already heard me say you need to get it, but Doug, Stan, Kris, Ken, and the rest of you out there in my blogosphere...GET THIS CD!!! Skillet just gets better and better with each cd. Seven cd's now and it's just amazing to see where they are now. Rating - A+

Jars of Clay - "Good Monster" - this cd was one that caught me out of the blue. I was never a big Jars fan. I liked 'em, but they were never one of my favs. This cd has been getting so much buzz from pre-release listens and what not, that I picked it up a few weeks ago, and holy cow was I blown away. It's a softer more alt sounding rock, but the lyrics here are amazing as well. GREAT cd. Rating - A-

Hyperstatic Union - "Lifegiver" - I just heard them live the other day, and had to pick up the cd right then, so that tells you that they had to have at least a little talent. Well, they've got a LOT of talent, and I look forward to future offerings from this group. Track 5, 6, and 7 are what I'm grooving to right now, but the whole cd is good. It seems a weird flow to it though, like the producer didn't put the tracks in the right order, but after hearing it a few times through you don't even care. Great cd and a great band. Rating - B+
