I decided awhile ago to start reading the Bible again. I read it off and on for various things, studies, events, etc, but I feel God tugging at my heart to fully immerse myself in His Word. To read it, digest it, understand it more. I'm going to go cover to cover, since I've never done that before. I've read most of the books of the Bible, but never in order, and certainly not all of them. This morning I started with Genesis. I LOVE the Bible I have, which is the Life Application Study Bible, New Living Translation version. The footnotes and extra information that it has at the bottom of each page is worth enough to merit people buying this copy as a main source of study Bible. When reading this morning, obviously it was about the creation of the earth, and everything in it...the water, land, animals, plants, and people. The footnote on Genesis 1:2 says:
Who created God? To ask that question is to assume there was another creator before God. At some time, however, we are forced to stop asking that question and realize that there had to be something that has always existed. God is that infinite Being who has always been and who was created by no one. This is difficult to understand because finite minds cannot comprehend the infinite. For example, we must not limit the infinite God by our finite understanding.
And for Genesis 1:31, here is the footnote for that verse:
God saw that all he had created was excellent in every way. You are part of God's creation, and he is pleased with how he made you. If at times you feel worthless or of little value, remember that God made you for a good reason. You are valuable to him.
I love reading stuff like that. Another reason I'm glad I'm starting back in the Word. Genesis chapter 1...done. ;)
Have a great Tuesday!

I'm so glad to hear that you are reading the Bible cover to cover!!!!! You'll get a whole new outlook on the Bible when you do that. Steve had never done that either, so we are reading it together. Some parts are REALLY hard to read-the son of, the son of the son of, blah blah, blah. We mostly skip over that part. I prayed to God one day that we don't understand why all of that stuff is in there, and that someday He would explain it to us, but for now, help us get through it! We are just about done with 2 Chronicals, so it's starting to get good. Keep it up. You'll be very proud of yourself when you've finished it cover to cover. At First Assembly, the people that do that are recognized during one of the services. You'd be surprised at how many Christians have never done it! Way to go Erik!!!!!
Luv Ya Lotz!!!! xoxoxo Mom
